There is an old gospel song entitled I Love to Tell the Story. The first line of that favorite hymn goes on to say, “I love to tell the story of unseen things above.” This story begins with the incarnation, a central Christian doctrine. The pieces in this exhibition tell the story that Christ is Born—God is with us.

The exhibition begins with a 16th century woodcut of the Annunciation by Albrect Altdorfer, followed with the Vistitation by Albrecht Dürer, and including works by historical artists Aegidius Sadeler, Simon Fricius, Jacob Jordean, and Henri Matisse, as well as more contemporary artists such as Joan Bohilg, Sadao Watanabe, Rudolph Bostic, Bruce Herman, Tatiana Grant, and Tyrus Clutter. Each piece offers interesting and informative insights into the biblical text and the way artists have interpreted the incarnation story.
